Thanks for this new site. I love the Amelia Peabody Series so much, and was distraught when Elizabeth passed away. It’s wonderful to have a place to remember her.

It’s so comforting to realize that the conversation can live on! There’s still so much to discuss … and so many smart, lively readers to discuss with. (Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and even Pinterest seem to be alive with MPM commentaries these days.) Thanks for your comment!

I read “Temples, Tombs & Hieroglyphs” in seventh grade and I immediately knew my life’s calling was to be an Egyptologist. Reading her follow-up “Red Land, Black Land” soon after only made me more determined. I picked up “The Crocodile on the Sandbank” and “The Master of Blacktower” in high school and now I’m hooked! Dr. Mertz defined my childhood, she will be dearly missed.

How wonderful to hear! It’s really inspiring to hear from Egyptologists for whom Barbara was the first step into that field she loved so much.
